Help us help the kids!

The last thing a parent should have to worry about when their child is in the hospital is the condition of the equipment being used to treat them.

Your donations will provide The Montreal Children's Hospital with the best technology and quality equipment possible and ensure the highest standard of care for the kids now and in the future.

The Current Challenge 2011-2012

JFK proudly supports the Anesthesia Department of The MCH. Maintaining the highest level of technological advancements in this department is essential to ensuring the best monitoring and highest level of comfort and safety of its young patients as they undergo surgical procedures and diagnostic interventions.

Equipment needs:

Anesthesia Machines

$225,000

Anesthesia Machines

The current fleet is over ten years old and needs upgrading to allow ventilation of infants during general anesthesia.  New technology will ensure improved delivery and monitoring of anesthetic gases during surgery.

Intubating Video Endoscopy System

$90,000

This system is currently not available at The MCH and will greatly improve patient safety as well as training. The video system will allow both the anesthesiologist and resident to review endoscopy procedures in real time as they occur.  It will also allow for the procedure to be recorded and stored for future review and teaching.

Narcotic Cabinet

$60,000

Narcotic Cabinet

Currently no narcotic dispensing cabinet is available for use by the Anesthesia Department in the OR.  This equipment would improve the control, distribution, storage and security of narcotics used by this department.

Portable Physiologic Monitor

$20,000

Portable Physiologic Monitor

Currently the Anesthesia Department has only one such unit, which is used to monitor patient vital signs during transportation. An additional unit is needed to ensure that a second patient requiring monitoring can be safely transported.  As well, upgraded monitors have an improved variety of monitoring options which can be tailored to patient needs.

Instrument Tracking System

$15,000

The technology offered by this new software for the OR would allow each instrument in the OR to be linked per use on each individual patient.  This would be the first time such technology was used in Quebec and would significantly improve patient safety and monitoring.

Anesthesia Machine Support Arms

$7,000

Portable Saturation/Carbon Dioxide Monitors

$7,000

Other

$6,000

Budget for this project:

$430,000
