JFK Annual Golf Tournament
Golf 2011
The setting was perfect and the weather couldn't have been better. On June 15th, 130 golfers took the day off work to play at the 2011 JFK Golf Tournament at the beautiful "Augusta-like" Le Club Laval-sur-le-Lac and to make the world a better place for the children in our community. And what a statement they made. Our golfers were treated like Kings and Queens (thanks to our fantastic volunteers who help us out all day) including fabulous loot bags, beer from local micro-brewers and soft filet mignon at dinner that was eaten with only a fork. Our auction was extremely successful. Our speaker, Rosa Bologna informed us about her beautiful 18 month old son Stefano, whose life was saved thanks to the doctors and nurses at The MCH along with the life-saving equipment that JFK purchases. Stefano is just one of the many reasons, why we do what we do. Trophies were awarded to the winning foursome: Roger Boulos, Gary Butler, Luc Gaudreault and Guy Oulette. But the real winners were the kids, we raised $140,000 for urgently needed medical equipment for The MCH. Thank you for "Helping Us, Help the Kids". We look forward to seeing everyone back at the 2012 tournament at Le Club Laval-sur-le-Lac!!

Dancing with the Stars 2011
February 2011
Hooray for Hollywood! The hard work and dedicated efforts of the entire committee certainly paid off as the fifth annual “Dancing with the Stars” 2011 “Hollywood Edition” was a resoundingly successful and fantastic event! Our evening started out with Cousin Vinny from Virgin Radio as our deejay supreme for the cocktail dinatôire portion of the evening held at the sizzling nightclub, La Mouche. Our terrific caterer, Java U served an abundance of delectable cuisine during this time. It was now time for our guests to make their way to the next portion of the evening at Montreal’s TELUS theatre. Once inside the TELUS theatre, each guest had a goody bag for their enjoyment waiting on their seat and were served chilled shots of “Belvedere” vodka in chocolate cups. A special video featuring highlights of some memorable Hollywood dance moments along with our alumini JFK dancers was playing as our esteemed guests took their seats.
Thank you to Eden Polansky for bringing this extraordinary video to fruition. Lisa Player and Cat Spencer from Virgin Radio were our energetic emcees and Eddy Rogozinski from Empire Auctions was our brilliant auctioneer. The live auction combined with a special call of hands to raise additional funds for a Pediatric scope raised an incredible $100,000. We were proud that ten of our past dancers gave of themselves once again to participate in an alumni JFK dance. The night now belonged to our seven shinning stars: Andrea "Andy" Barbiero, Dr. Pietro Di Battista, Anne Gill, Allyson Kassie-Goldberg, Erika Ludwick, Tim Sochaczevski, and Irwin "Candy Man" Zelniker who now took the stage. Each of our dancers and their professional partners routines were brilliant and got great feedback from our three judges; Stephen Bronfman of Claridge Inc. and Pierre Allaire&MireilleVeilleux choreographers for “So You Think You Can Dance Canada”. The judges had a hard time deliberating as all the performances were outstanding. Our audience was also asked to participate in determining the winner as they were able to text in their votes for their favourite star! With the combination of our esteemed judges input and our audience’s text votes, Anne Gill was ultimately declared the winner. Congratulations to all our phenomenal JFK dancers as they all deserve to be applauded for their outstanding efforts! Our guests left the Telus Theatre with a great loot bag donated by Mac Cosmetics. The event was absolutely amazing and netted an incredible $297,000. Kudos to all who made this spectacular event happen!

JFK GLEE SHOWDOWN
November 2010
The first annual JFK GLEE High School Showdown, a song and dance competition was held on November 21st at the Loyola High School auditorium. It featured teams from nine different schools: Bialik, Lindsay, Lower Canada College, Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s, Riverdale, Royal Vale, St. George’s, The Study and Trafalgar. The event was a resounding success and raised in excess of $35,000! An enthusiastic crowd of 750 cheered their favourite teams on. The three esteemed judges (Mac Thornhill, Shana Troy and Tina Paylan) had an extremely hard time deliberating the winners as all the teams had done an incredible job. First place was awarded to St. George’s, followed by Riverdale in second place, and third place went to Trafalgar. 94.7Hits dee jay’s; Dexter and Brad Johns were great emcees which included a lot of audience participation. The guests were also treated to stellar performances by Jill Ohayon and the dance team of 8-Count. We look forward to next year’s GLEE event!

An Evening at Bâton Rouge
November 2010
Chapter 2 in collaboration with Bâton Rouge West Island held their 7th annual evening at Bâton Rouge “Who’s got Talent” on Monday, November 1st. Guests were treated to a delectable five-course meal with open bar. A special thanks to proprietors Jon Frintzilas, Jim Sotiropoulis, and Peter Gianopoulos who generously donated the entire evening including food, bar, and service for the seventh consecutive year. The evening was filled with great food and music by Total Entertainment and pictures by PBL Photography. This year our guests enjoyed the singing competition by some very talented Montrealers: Sari Goffman, Gabrielle Lubin, Samara Schwartz, Randi Spanier & Larry Engler, and Jodi Zentner. Although our three judges (Joey Elias, Rob Kemp and Luisa Sassano) had a very hard time deliberating, the winner was Sari Goffman who really got the sold out crowd joining in! The evening was a great success enjoyed by all the guests in attendance, a “mystery box” raffle featuring a “Tissot” watch generously donated by Hemsley’s Jewelers and many great door prizes. The silent and live auction led by Joey Elias helped Chapter 2 raise an incredible total of $60,000 for the Medical Imaging and Department of Dentistry for The MCH.

October 2010
A terrific turnout was had at our membership appreciation evening that took place on October 19th at Maroline Distributors chaired by Robyn Miller Rothstein and assisted by her committee. Members were treated and participated in an iron chef demonstration by the master chefs from San Marzano Restaurant. We were pleased that the evening brought out many of our valued JFK members as well as many new potential members who will join our organization as volunteers as we strive to fulfill our mandate of raising funds.
